Your 91�� Summer Intern and Study Abroad program in Rennes lasts 6 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (15-20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3-credit academic course taught online through 91��’s global academic partner, ASU. Housing

CIEE Rennes offers various housing options, including homestays or single-studio apartments. All housing options are located in neighborhoods with convenient access to the center of Rennes and the host institution. The city is very easy to navigate on foot, by metro, or by bus, courtesy of an excellent and modern public transport system. &�Բ��;

Standard Housing: Includes a single room at a homestay. Homestays are in Rennes or a close suburb within 15 to 40 minutes of 91�� Rennes. Homestays feature a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family, in an apartment or a house.  &�Բ��;
Select Housing: Includes a single studio apartment, within a 20-minute commute of the city center. Studio apartments are equipped with a private bathroom and kitchenette, and share common areas and laundry facilities with other residents. Select housing availability is limited and requires an additional fee.

A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees. &�Բ��;

Meals

Homestays: Students typically have weekday breakfasts, weekday dinners, and all weekend meals with their host family (included in the program fee). On weekdays, students are responsible for their lunches, which may be purchased at local cafés, boulangeries, crêperies, or mini markets in downtown Rennes.
Studio Apartments: Students are responsible for budgeting and preparing their own meals. Food can be purchased at a nearby supermarket, bakery, or market.

Requirements

All Intern + Study Abroad in Rennes students take the required 3-credit part-time internship with the embedded internship seminar plus one additional ASU online course for a total of 6-7 semester credits.

Academic Culture

CIEE offers a focused and immersive experience for students, blending rigorous coursework with hands-on learning opportunities to deepen understanding of both academic subjects and the local culture.

CIEE courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The required internship seminar is a hybrid course, featuring both in-person sessions and online asynchronous activities.

In addition to lectures, most 91�� courses often incorporate local co-curricular activities, providing students with firsthand exposure to the rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the local context.

Attendance is mandatory in 91�� courses. This emphasizes the importance of active participation and engagement in the learning process, encouraging students to fully commit to their academic pursuits.

ASU Courses: Most ASU online courses are asynchronous. You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. You’ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online.

Class Format

Students participate in a six-week 91�� part-time in-person internship and required academic course taught in a hybrid learning environment, featuring both in-person class sessions and online asynchronous work.

CIEE classes are for 91�� students only. Classes are small, typically with up to 15 students per class, and emphasize communication and work in small groups. Instruction is supported and augmented online with our learning management system, Canvas.

ASU online courses meet in “sessions” that are 6-weeks long in the summer, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other 91�� courses begin or end.

Grading

CIEE reports all final course grades to students’ home institutions using a U.S. letter grade equivalent scale of A-F (ASU grade scale is A+ through E). For 91��-administered courses, students’ grades are based on several different assignments and activities related to the academic course, including but not limited to: Engagement with the course materials, online participation forums, reflection papers, and written exams. In the context of internships, besides the specific deliverables outlined in the syllabus and the completion of 100-120 work hours, feedback from the internship supervisor is also taken into consideration. Internship supervisors and students each provide written evaluations of progress towards goals.

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. “Pass/fail” or “Audit” is not allowed for 91�� students.

Assistant Architect Intern Summer 2026 Assistant Architect Intern Rennes, France Job Type Architecture Company Industry Architecture and Construction About the Role This role offers a dynamic blend of architectural design and visual communication, with approximately 70% of the responsibilities focused on architecture and 30% on graphic design and communication. On the architectural side, the position involves supporting the development of project drawings, designs, and sketches, as well as contributing to the graphic charter through 3D modeling using tools such as AutoCAD, Archicad, Revit, or Artlantis. It also includes monitoring project calls and gaining exposure to the construction process by shadowing and potentially attending site meetings. The remaining portion of the role centers on enhancing the organization’s communication strategy. This includes tasks such as web design, refining the corporate identity, and managing social media platforms like LinkedIn to strengthen the firm’s digital presence and outreach. The founders of Adéona Voyages believe in the power of travel to transform lives and form a passionate team committed to inclusion and excellence in the field of accessible tourism. The agency primarily works with medicalized homes and individuals with multiple disabilities and low autonomy. Their mission consists in organizing vacation trips adapted to different situations by ensuring accessible and comfortable accommodation, activities suited to everyone's abilities, and comprehensive support before, during, and after the stay. To achieve this, they rely on a network of partners and a team of 20 facilitators trained in the medico-social field. Daniel Audaz has been the Director of the 91�� program in Rennes since 2008. He is originally from Marseille and studied at the University of Aix-en-Provence (France) where he obtained his M.A. in Geography and then specialized in FLE/S (Français Langue Etrangère et Seconde).
