Language Camp Activities - Kaub and Partnership International
Peering outside my window to peer at the Rhine river and vibrant greenery, I feel like I am in a movie. Outside of my youth hostel, there is a five minute walk along cobblestone streets and picturesque buildings to reach a local convenience store, bakery, and burger restaurant. Stroll behind and there is a hiking trail that weaves through grape vines to climax at an ancient castle.
My life in this small town looks like a movie, but it also plays out like one too. I am filling in the chapters of my teenage life. The camp counselors organized a viewing of Lights Out one night, followed by a spooky midnight hike. Clutching onto my friends as we walked along the mountainside, I tried to shield myself from the jumpscares hiding in the bushes. While I definitely could not sleep that night, I gained a memorable experience.
As I am dancing at an impromptu prom, exploring the streets of Kaub, and playing Werewolf (similar to Mafia), or having a drag makeup night, I record these precious moments. Just three weeks into my exchange, I have left my bubble of comfort to an ocean of new experiences. I cannot wait to see what the next nine months have in store for me.
