Host Organization Requirements
While many organizations of all types and sizes have embraced the diversity, team building, and cross-cultural understanding that come with hosting international interns, trainees, and professional, not every organization qualifies to host.
 
There are a number of factors that go into deciding whether a potential host organization is eligible to host through 91°µÍø Professional Exchange Programs. Some factors are stipulated by the U.S. Department of State, while others are standards 91°µÍø has put in place as part of our efforts to maintain the quality of our programs.
 
Prospective host organizations must meet some basic requirements:

To host interns and/or trainees, prospective host organizations must:
- Prepare and adhere to a 91°µÍø-approved training plan
 - Provide a suitable workspace and position-specific equipment
 - Offer ongoing supervision and evaluation of the intern or trainee
 - Have a workers’ compensation policy (or equivalent) that covers the intern or trainee
 - Hold an Employer Identification Number or Federal Tax Identification Number
 - Provide interns or trainees with access to opportunities for cultural exchange
 - Provide at least 32 hours per week of training
 - Provide in-person work a minimum of 3 days a week. No fully remote training is allowed.
 
To host research scholars, short-term scholars, professors, or specialists, prospective host organizations must:
- Complete a host organization application and provide an invitation letter
 - Provide a suitable workspace and position-specific equipment
 - Offer ongoing supervision and evaluation
 - Hold an Employer Identification Number or Federal Tax Identification Number
 - Provide your international professional with access to opportunities for cultural exchange
 
Businesses like fast-food franchises, single-location retailers, economy motels, spas, gyms, and home offices generally are prohibited from hosting. In addition, there are specific guidelines for research positions, medical/clinical organizations, agricultural operations, hospitality positions, and any position that involves unskilled labor.
